Alcugs is an acronym for Alternative Live Compatible Uru Game Server. It was initially called urud (uru daemon), but after studying several alternative names it was finally called Alcugs. Its purpose is to provide a reliable way to play Uru online - which excludes closed-source servers running only on old Linux systems.

Alcugs is one of the many possibilities how to run an Uru Shard.

The Alcugs source code is available at http://gitlab.com/diafero/alcugs, it also contains all required documentation. The project had it's own wiki at http://alcugs.almlys.org/ which today serves as archive of Alcugs development. The information there is outdated, please refer to the project repository instead.
