Inspiration: 10 Concept Artists Worth Seeing
If I was to post the list of the various artists I follow we’d probably be here for the next week, however I grabbed a small handful of links to offer you. I’m sure many of us hit those points where we just can’t seem to find the inspiration we need to progress with our projects. Looking over the work of others often leads to that inspiration or teaches new things to try out.
So for your inspiration we present the following, in no particular order.
Jae-Cheol Park
Unfortunately not much information can be found regarding Jae-Cheol Park, except to say that he appears to be Korean.
Mateusz Ozminski
Again not much to be discovered about Mateusz Ozminski aside from him being a digital painter from Poland.
Daniel Dociu
Daniel Dociu was raised in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania in Romania. After studying art and architecture, he got his Masters in Industrial Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj. He moved to the USA in 1990 and he has lived in the Seattle area since 1991.
Currently he isthe Chief Art Director role for NCsoft, overseeing visual development for all of NCsoft’s North American projects, with particular focus on ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2.
Gary Tonge
Gary Tonge has been a professional artist for over 20 years, sparting out at 17 and working mostly as a Conceptual Artist and Art Director.
He currently spends his time balancing between full time, contract commitments and his personal art.
Horia Dociu
Horia Dociu was born in 1982 in Cluj, Romania, the capital of Transylvania before moving to the US in 1990 and settling in Seattle.
He currently leading the animated cinematic department, directing, story boarding and concepting at ArenaNet on the Guild Wars 2.
Andy Park
Andy Park has worked in Conceptual Design and Illustration for over 14 years, working with companies like Marvel and DC, as well as working on Sony’s God of War II and God of War III.
Stephan Martiniere
Stephan Martiniere attended high school at one of the most renowned art schools in Paris, where he studied anatomy, perspective, advertising, architecture and a banquet of other useful fields.
After graduating from art school it was off to animation school, but halfway through, Stephan was hired by an animation company and was immediately sent to Japan to work on Inspector Gadget as a character and background designer. The next several years went by frantically, as he eagerly worked between Asia and the United States.
Stephan laterw ent on to work on projects for films like Virus, The Astronaut’s Wife, Red Planet, I, Robot and Star Wars Episodes II and III. Eventually he moved into the game industry, working for CyanWorlds on their Uru Franchise and Myst 5.
Stephan Martiniere is currently art directing the game “rage” at ID software.
Nacho Yagüe
Nacho Yagüe is a Conceptual Artist from Barcelona, working at Ubisoft Barcelona as the Art Director and Concept Artist.
VelvetCat
VelvetCat describes herself as, “I’m just a simple girl with loads of ideas, who loves to create art and expects to get everything what’s best from life”
